One of the most frequent questions landscapers are asked is what do you do in the winter? As we continue to put a close to 2015, we are also looking ahead and planning for 2016.
Several projects keep us busy throughout the winter months. All of the necessary maintenance and repairs on the equipment are completed (trucks, trailers, dump trucks, skidloaders, attachments, bed edgers, block/paver saws and more). We order for the upcoming season, including product for the retail side such as soil, mulch and landscape supplies. Educating ourselves about the new plant material we will carry is necessary in the winter months so we can introduce new and exciting things in our customer’s landscapes next season. We also attend the Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Associations annual Green Expo trade show and seminars to keep up with the newest and greatest in the gardening world and become even more knowledgeable in our fields. When Mother Nature allows, we continue to meet with clients and complete landscape plans and estimates. In February, we help plant all of the wonderful plants grown by Pahl’s so they are ready when Spring finally arrives.
Most importantly, we finally work normal hours and are able to spend a little more time with friends, family and enjoy our hobbies (luckily we enjoy some winter activities). This helps the mind and body prepare for another long season which lies ahead. We take great pride in all of our landscape projects, regardless of size, and to see the transition of a project from start to finish and a happy client keeps us motivated throughout the entire season. Basically, no matter the season, we continue to concentrate on what we do best, growing beautiful plants and making your landscape something you can enjoy every season!
