October at the Market

by | Oct 3, 2015 | Market News

Let me tell you why we love the month of October at Pahl’s. It is the kids, young and old who embrace the fun of pumpkin time. We like to kick off the month with our Fall Festival on October 3rd and Pahl's Market Corn Pit4th. Our favorite attraction is the Corn Pit. Everyone is tempted to take off their shoes and wiggle their toes in the corn. Our old friend, the Bouncy Pumpkin, is loved by those kids who are 45 inches in height or shorter. Squeals of delight echo through the market. There is also a kid friendly Straw Maze for youngsters up for the challenge. Best part of that is Mom or Dad can still see their heads bobbing through it, just in case a rescue is needed. We offer these activities all month long for your return visits. For the festival weekend there will also be face painting, guess the pumpkin weight, guess the number of corn kernels, coloring sheets, and more.

Pumpkin PatchThroughout the month we will have our Pumpkin Patch open on Fridays from 4-6PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM-5PM. It will also be open Thursday, October 15th from 10AM-5PM and extended hours on Friday October 16th from 10AM-5PM. The patch is next to King Field off of Dodd Road and 185th Street in Lakeville. If you do not see the perfect pumpkin, head on over to our market and I guarantee you will find one. We have HUNDREDS of pumpkins for you to pick from. Not only the traditional orange pumpkin but also unique and specialty pumpkins that are fun to decorate with.

Speaking of decorating, we have everything you need. There are corn shocks, straw bales, rye bundles, jeweled Indian corn, gourds, stunning mums, beautiful terra cotta pumpkins, scarecrows, giant spooky spiders and so much more. We also have dry firewood at a great price.

Our delicious corn may be on its way out, but that just means that tasty squash has arrived. All of the many varieties that we plant can be found in our market for you to choose from. Have you ever baked a pumpkin pie with fresh pumpkin? It is so easy and tastes so much better than canned pumpkin. Best of all, it is easy to freeze and can be used all year round.

Minnesota ApplesMinnesota apples can’t be beat. What is your favorite? Is it the Zestar, SweeTango, Honeycrisp, Haralson, or perhaps the Cortland apple? Depending on the crop, we hope to get other varieties as well. And don’t forget to pick up an Abdallah caramel apple or container of caramel dip while you are here. It is a treat not to be overlooked.

Starting with our Fall Festival on October 3rd and running throughout the month, this is what you will find on sale:

  • 50% off Pottery
  • 50% off Fountains and Bird Baths
  • 50% off Benches, Statuary, Trellis’
  • 50% off Summer Hardgoods
  • 25% off Trees and Shrubs
  • 25% off Perennials
  • 25% off Bird Houses, Feeders

We look forward to seeing you this month. Grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy the beautiful fall days at Pahl’s Market. Warm, sunny days and cool, clear nights along with the spectacular colors of Minnesota trees and bountiful harvests remind us of the blessings of nature.
