Create Your Outdoor Lifestyle
As spring is rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to start thinking of your plans for the upcoming landscaping season. A popular trend is creating your very own unique outdoor living area.
Thinking Spring
One of the most frequent questions landscapers are asked is what do you do in the winter? As we continue to put a close to 2015, we are also looking ahead and planning for 2016.
Tis the Season for Pruning
There are a number of things to consider before getting the saw and pruner ready. Tree pruning impacts trees in many ways, such as causing a risk of decay through open wounds, loss of food-producing leaves for growth, and redirection of growth by reducing competing branches.
What do you mean I can still plant in the Fall?
Fall is an excellent time to plant trees, shrubs, perennials, spring blooming bulbs and turgrass. Our incredible fall season here in Minnesota has many planting benefits. One big benefit is the cooler temperatures which are easier on plant material as well as the GARDENERS. Soil temperatures are still warm, which allows the root systems to take off, unlike spring when the soil temps are still cold.
August Landscape Honey Do List
Hard to believe August is here and fall is near. August can be a dry month so don’t forget to keep watering your gardens and lawns. A good time to pull weeds is immediately after a rainfall because it makes it easier to get the entire root out with the weed. Remember to water thoroughly and deeply when you water.
Spring Landscape To Do List
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and most importantly the snow appears to be gone. As spring approaches, the first things you might notice are the lawns turning green and plants starting to peak through the soil. It is very important not to get in a hurry when working on your lawns, you want to make sure it’s not too wet and the soil temperatures are right for the best performance.
Fall Planted Bulbs for Spectacular Spring Color
Hard to believe we are thinking about next Spring already. However, if you want to enjoy the simple beauty of spring flowering bulbs, now is the time to plant. Bulb planting is as simple as Dig hole, Drop bulb (right side up) and Done!
Bulbs follow a natural cycle of growth and rebirth. Planted in the fall, dormant in the winter and emerging full of life with vibrant color in the spring. Bulbs are super easy to grow and any Gardner (with or without a green thumb) can create a beautiful spring bulb garden.
