Apples

There’s a good reason for the oft-heard saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Apples are high in fiber and vitamin C, low in calories, contain no fat or cholesterol, and have only a trace of sodium. They are a favorite snack for kids and adults alike. Almost half of an apple’s vitamin C content is just under the skin, so be sure to eat apples with the skin intact. Apples should be stored in a cool dark place. They can be stored unwashed in a plastic bag in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Wash just before eating.
