CSA Update: A Respite From The Rain
Who would have guessed that when the rain spell broke, the heat and humidity would take over? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’m glad the rain has given us a much-needed respite. Over Friday and Saturday, we were finally able to get the rest of our 40 acres of peppers planted! Not to rest on our laurels, Sunday morning we loaded our tomato transplants and hit the ground running. By three pm we had our nearly 9000 tomato plants in the ground and watered, another big step on getting caught up.
Today Gary will attempt to get the rest of our field corn planted, as the time is now and any later would close the window on planting. Jorge and I are back to planting cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and Pak Choi this morning and by the end of the week, I plan to have the pumpkins and squash seeded. Wish us luck as we continue to get caught up this week!
Cheers!
