News From the Farmer

Cooler weather has returned and it’s helping to boost morale and keep us chugging along. This morning we are picking our latest cucumber field for the first time. It is safe to say that the yields of nice, straight slicing cucumbers are pretty dang good this morning. The first picking of cucumbers is generally a decent yielding crop, with the second picking being the best. Generally we harvest a cucumber field about 4 times! We will also be harvesting your tomato shares today and that means they cannot get much fresher!

I can already feel a touch of fall in the air this morning and being that is my favorite season, I have no complaints. I’ll take a stroll through the pumpkin field to assess the yield, their progress and get a feel what the next 2 months has in store for us. It won’t be long and the transition to squash harvest will be here as well, but until then, the summer crops are continuing to give us great yields and that is our first priority.

Have a wonderful share week!
Cole
