Thank You!

It was a difficult year for all, there is no getting around that. But I would like to thank you for patronizing our establishment during these difficult times, not only from a business perspective, but also for the compassion, respect, and patience that you showed our staff while they were trying to cope with the ongoing regulations and the uncertainty they faced every day.  Things seemed to change on a daily basis for a while, yet we persevered through it to not only have a good year financially but mentally and emotionally as well.

When I reflect back to when the Governor said we couldn’t open through to the last day when we closed the book on this chapter, I can’t thank our employees enough for getting us through and adapting to the ongoing circumstances that we faced every day.  Day in and day out we put our boots on and sucked it up, not knowing by the end of the day how things would turn out.  We were fortunate enough to experience very few COVID cases with our employees and that helped keep morale high during our busy season.

I want to thank all of you for taking the precautions when shopping at our facility and for utilizing our curbside pick-up and on-line ordering. It was a huge undertaking at the beginning of the season that did not come without hiccups, but rest assured we have implemented many updates and procedures to make this upcoming season safe and more seamless.  I want to thank all of you that respected our employees’ health concerns when shopping here at Pahl’s Market!

On the farm side of our business we were blessed with minimal weather events and we were fortunate to harvest 95 percent of what we planted. This is above average for a vegetable farmer and a goal that we would like to duplicate year after year.

Some of our high points and fun facts from this past year are:

  • Farthest Shipping Point:  Houston, TX
  • Most Sweet Corn Picked in One Day:  192,000 cobs picked, packed and cooled
  • Most Green Bell Peppers Picked in One Day:  88,000 (approx.)
  • Most Cabbage Cut in One Day:  24,000 heads
  • Most Semi Loads Shipped in One Day:  9
  • Most Hours Worked in One Day:  38 (I did sleep a few hours in my pickup, got a kiss from my wife, and had two beers)
  • Last but not least, we donated 400,000 pounds of produce to area food shelves with the hope that no one went to bed hungry.

Thanks again for patronizing our business and may this year bring us all great health, both mentally and physically.

God Bless,
Gary Pahl

This past summer was my first experience with your CSA program and we LOVED it. Already signed up for next year. We enjoyed all the wonderful corn, tomatoes and other fantastic veggies.
Thank you for the delicious, healthy veggies every week.
