Pahl’s Market is hosting its 1st Annual Canadian Doubles Cribbage Tournament on Saturday, January 11, 2025—a day packed with fun, strategy, and maybe even a little bragging rights. This isn’t just a tournament; it’s an experience. Whether you’re in it to win it or just looking for a fun day out with friends, this is your chance to peg, count, and toast to a good time.
But that’s not all! Need a little extra courage or celebration fuel? We’re upping the ante with a cash bar, lovingly staffed by the good folks from Rascal’s Restaurant.

Here’s what you need to know:
- Entry fee: $40 per team—grab your best cribbage buddy and sign up!
- Registration starts at 11 AM, so you’ve got time to get settled and scope out the competition.
- Play begins at noon sharp—be ready to shuffle and deal!
- 9 games to prove your pegging prowess and see if you’ve got what it takes to make it to the top.
- Payouts for the top 5 teams, because victory deserves a reward!
What is Canadian Doubles Cribbage?
Canadian Doubles Cribbage is a fun and easy-to-learn variation of traditional cribbage that adds a bit more strategy and teamwork. Here’s how it works:
Getting Started:
Four players draw cards to decide the starting dealer (lowest card wins).
The dealer shuffles, the player to their right cuts, and the dealer deals 10 cards each to themselves and the opponent on their left.
Making Your Moves:
The players with 10 cards decide:
- 4 cards to keep.
- 4 cards to pass to their partner.
- 2 cards to discard into the crib (which belongs to the dealer).
Game Play:
The player to the dealer’s left cuts the deck for the starter card.
Play follows standard cribbage rules from there, with partners working together to peg points and outscore their opponents.
Rotating the Deal:
After each hand, the deal rotates to the left, and the fun continues.
