CSA Member Sweet Corn Harvest Event

It’s time to stock the freezer with homegrown sweet corn to enjoy throughout the winter months!  Our third Harvest Event is here and the Sweet Corn field will be ready for picking this weekend.

The sweet corn variety in this field is Anthem.  Anthem is bi-color, super sweet, with excellent flavor!

For the safety of our members we must limit the hours of the sweet corn pick from 8am to 3pm on Saturday, August 12th.  Please be sure to plan your visit between those hours.  There is a lot of activity in the fields both early morning and in the evening and your safety is our top priority.  Please be sure to bring your own bags or boxes.  We have found in the past that cloth sacks with handles, small 4 wheeled wagons, and boxes with handles work well.

Directions to the sweet corn field:
From Pahl’s Market head EAST on 160th Street. Cross over Highway 52. Turn right on Emery Ave (this is about 11 miles from Pahl’s). Go south for about 1 mile and take the first right onto 170th St East. The farm field will be in about 1/2 mile.  Parking is limited. If you are parking along 170th Street, please only park on one side of the road so that our trucks can get through. Be prepared to walk a bit.

Members that are unable to attend the sweet corn pick this weekend will have the opportunity to pick up their harvest share (4 dozen) of sweet corn at the market later in the season for a small harvesting fee.  More details on this to come in a future CSA newsletter.
