Welcome to Week 2 of the CSA season! Minnesota’s short but intense growing season means we make the most of every warm day, bringing you crops at their peak flavor and nutrition.
By participating in a CSA, you’re supporting sustainable, small-scale farming that prioritizes healthy soil, reduced food miles, and a stronger local food system. It’s a simple way to eat with the seasons, try new vegetables, and stay connected to where your food comes from.
If you haven’t yet, take a moment to check out our CSA e-guide. It’s a quick read with practical tips on storing, preserving, and using your produce. https://www.pahls.com/csa-magazine/.
Friendly Reminders:
- Share box pickups start at 1pm at all locations on the specified day, members picking up at a Von Hanson’s location have until 7pm, most Great Harvest Bread locations close at 6pm, Eden Prairie Holiday and Pahl’s Market offer pickups until 8pm. Because we are dealing with ultra-fresh produce we ask that you be sure to pickup your share on the specified day. If you miss a share box pickup give us a call at (952) 431-4345 or email nate@pahls.com.
- If you know you are going to miss a share pickup, please send someone in your place to pick it up for you. We try to be as flexible as we can so if you have a situation arise and want to know your options, please contact Nate (nate@pahls.com) and we will figure it out! Unclaimed share boxes will be donated.
- We ask that members re-use or dispose of the share boxes on their own. Our food safety certification requires we pack in clean, unused containers.
What’s in the box?! This week’s box features a great mix of early-season favorites: sweet strawberries and tart rhubarb bring the first taste of summer, perfect for sauces, crisps, or snacking straight from the box. Bok choy adds versatility for stir-fries or sautés, while vine-ripened tomatoes are just starting to roll in with that unmistakable garden-fresh flavor. Kohlrabi and radishes round things out with crunch and bite—great raw in salads, slaws, or simply dipped in a little salt. These early crops are a great reminder of how much variety Minnesota’s growing season has to offer, even in the first few weeks.
