Fire Up for Fall!

by | Oct 3, 2017 | Landscaping, Market News

Summer has come to an end and fall temperatures are upon us. It is the perfect time of the year to spend cool nights outside next to a warm cozy fire.  There are many different ways to construct a beautiful outdoor area to enjoy friends and family around the fire. Look to Pahl’s landscaping staff help you create an inviting and comfortable outdoor space.

There are several material options to pick from when building a fire pit. Fieldstone boulders and natural stone fire pits have been used for a number of years. This is a good option as boulders are inexpensive to build with and can be found lying around just about anywhere. Block fire kits have become much more popular as they are easy to install with no need to cut the block. It is recommended to build most block fire kits on a Class 5 base that is roughly 6” in depth and packed accordingly. The most popular block fire kits installed by Pahl’s are made by Rockwood.  They offer The Victorian, a square kit, and The Grand Fire, a circle kit. The kits include quality block and a steel insert with four different colors of block to choose from. Many block fire pits are available with different add-ons, depending on the manufacturer. Options include a swivel cooking grate, decorative cap and spark screen. Also, if you do not want to deal with the hassle of burning wood, many kits are available with the option of a gas insert.

As you are planning your fire pit, you can be thinking of the possibility of an outdoor area for sitting. Although many people just pull out lawn chairs and set up right on the lawn, you may prefer a more defined area. Pahl’s can help you come up with a plan, including the installation of decorative rock or a paver patio surrounding the fire pit.  Remember to check with your local zoning commission for building restrictions and required construction permits before planning your landscape project.

As cool nights approach, what better way to spend your nights than gathered around a warm cozy fire having a few cocktails and roasting marshmallows?  You can purchase many of these materials at Pahl’s to build the fire pit of your dreams, that best fits your style.
