Well, here we are starting a new year. 2012 was a fantastic anniversary year of 30 years in business. We are ready to grow into the next 30 years. As you may have noticed we have added three more greenhouses this last fall. They will be used for starting those tender cabbage plants and planting and growing the beautiful patio pots and hanging baskets that you have come to look forward to each year. With about 3 acres of indoor growing area, we now have the capability of growing one million plants at a time! This includes the vegetable transplants for the fields. That is a staggering number I must say. When the greenhouses are full to capacity and in bloom it is a sight to behold.
So what is happening in the market in January? Yes! Our doors are open and we are here waiting for you to stop in. We carry a great selection of bird seed and feeders for our winter bird friends. There is nothing more beautiful than a brilliant red Cardinal or stunning Blue Jay at your feeder. We also have dry firewood in boxes to warm those chilly days. A crackling fire on a snowy day brings to mind a Rockwell painting. If you have pets or animals that are housed out in the elements, we have clean dry straw bales for their bedding as well. They will appreciate having a clean bed to curl up in.
Behind the scenes we are doing inventory, wrapping up year end projects, and getting prepared for the year ahead. New merchandise is being received and entered into our sales system. We will then price it and place it out for sale. So you can get a jump start on your spring shopping. As we are a family business and not a box store we like to shop for the unique items. We do not buy in high volumes either. So if you see that fountain, yard décor, plant table or trellis in our market in January, GRAB IT! It may not be around in April or May because another early shopper saw it first. And stop in often as new merchandise is arriving weekly.
We are open Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM until April 1st when we kick off our spring hours. Our Landscaping Department is available to get a jump start on your spring projects. Chex is here to greet you with tail wagging. And of course, we will keep the coffee on for you! Have a great year ahead!
