Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple

by | Oct 2, 2017 | Market News

For the October plant of the month I have chosen Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple.  The choice was easy because of it’s beautiful fall color and because it is my wife Sara’s favorite tree.

This is the tree that is responsible for giving New England its reputation for spectacular fall color.  It is also the tree that we tap to make maple syrup.  The leaf is the national symbol of Canada.

Fall Fiesta Sugar MapleIt is a large tree, 50’-70’ high and has a rapid, vigorous growth rate.  Even though it is fast growing, it is still a sturdy tree that can live to be 100 years old.  It’s large 6” leathery, glossy, dark green leaves have good resistance to leaf tatter and leaf scorch.  Combine that with outstanding fall color that shows more oranges and reds then any other sugar maple.  It will be the most striking tree in the landscape for 100 years.
