Christmas Trees

Choosing and decorating a Christmas tree is one of the most festive activities of the holiday season.  Take the worry and guessing out of selecting and caring for your fresh cut Christmas tree by following these simple steps.

  1. Before heading out to find that perfect tree, measure your space and be sure to take into account the height of your tree topper.  Also, be sure the space you’ve selected is clear of major heat sources such as vents, fireplaces, direct sunlight or TV’s.
  2. Check the tree you choose for freshness by grasping a branch and gently running your fingers towards the tip of the branch, the majority of needles should remain intact.  Check the base of the tree and make sure it is fairly straight and there are no splits running up the trunk.
  3. Make a fresh cut of about 1” to the base of the tree (Pahl’s will do this for you!) and place it in water as soon as possible.  Fresh cut Christmas trees will require a new fresh cut if they are not placed in water within 3 hours or so.
  4. It is important to give your tree as much water as it needs.  For the first couple days you may need to water morning and night.  Be sure there is always water in the basin.
