Tough to believe that May went by that fast and a busy flower season has already come and gone. We ended an awesome month on a high note, that’s for sure, and by high note I mean the high temperatures we have been having! Temperatures over one hundred really make you appreciate an ice-cold beverage. If you feel like you missed out on the flower buying season, don’t worry you haven’t! Pahl’s still has a vast selection of flowers in 4.5” pots, patio tubs, hanging baskets, and 4-packs as well as herbs, vegetables, and perennials for your garden.
For us, June is still a really busy month in the greenhouse. June is synonymous with mums and projects! We need to reorganize our plant selection so that it continues to look nice and neat in addition to making room for our mum crop. We typically start planting our mums in the second or third week of June so that they are nice and full come mid-September and early October. We also plant ornamental kale, millet, and grasses for some of the mixed patio tubs. We grow roughly 14,000 pots for our fall crop! An exciting new addition, under the category of projects, will be started this June as well. We are putting in a walkway/garage door on the west side of our headhouse that will open up into our tree and shrub lot. The goal is to make things look more open and allow our customers to see the entire layout while walking through the greenhouses. It also is going to eliminate a lot of drainage problems when we water since we plan to put a drain along this new walkway.
Don’t forget that we have our annual Father’s Day Tractor Show June 16th and 17th. We would love to see you there and celebrate with us! I hope all of you enjoyed coming out in the month of May, but don’t forget that we are open all year long and there is Something for Every Season here at Pahl’s.
