Irish I Was Planting

by | Mar 1, 2016 | Market News

Growing up March always reminded me of three things. Spring break (which meant a week of no school), the state hockey tournament (which meant skipping school), and the planting season. I name the first two before the planting season because no school takes precedence, but now that I am no longer in school I don’t have the luxury of enjoying those days off. Every aspect of the growing season leading up to the month of May is quite possibly my favorite time of the year.

We began planting on February 15th and since then we have rapidly started filling up space in our production area that was once only accompanied by dust and debris.  In that time span we have planted roughly 3,500 items. Whether that be a Geranium patio tub, a 10” hanging basket(which include mixed shade combinations, New Guinea Impatiens, Setcreasea, Streptocarpella, Torenia, and Bridal veil), a 10”patio tub consisting of either New Guinea impatiens, Cupea, or Dragon Wing Begonia’s, to Vinca Vine flats, and don’t forget your early season Pansies. Needless to say it has been a busy couple weeks! All of this commotion gets me really excited and I hope that it gets you to start thinking about spring.

I look forward to seeing you here this Spring, but for now I have to run – there is more planting to be done.  Happy St. Patty’s Day!
