AMBER JUBILEE NINEBARK is the 2012 First Edition plant introduced by Baileys Nursery. This new Ninebark was developed by Jeffries Nursery in Manitoba Canada and is now propagated under the “First Editions” label of Baileys Nursery. Each year Baileys Nurseries select the most unique varieties to include in this program. First Edition plants are exclusive to independent garden centers such a Pahl’s Market.
Amber Jubilee is a seedling of a cross between Ninebark Diablo and Ninebark Darts Gold. It offers a unique blend of “hot” foliage colors ranging from yellow and orange, tinged with lime green new growth on established sections. In June it has white pink button like flowers and in Fall the leaves turn red and purple.
Amber Jubilee thrives in full sun and is hardy in USDA zones 2-7. Mature height is 5’-6’ and 4’ spread. Consider this plant in small groupings or mass plantings. This new ninebark is less susceptible to powdery mildew as well. Grow Amber Jubilee in full sunshine for best color. It tolerated a wide range of soil, but prefers good drainage.
This ninebark was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. The Queen took part in planting one at the Legislative grounds during her visit to Manitoba in July, 2010.
