Swimming Around Beauty

by | Oct 5, 2018 | Landscaping, Market News

It’s that time of year with the cool weather and rain has returning. Fall is a favorite time of year for many people, with Halloween approaching, the beautiful fall colors and cooler temperatures. Pahl’s Landscaping still has a busy couple of months ahead, with a lot of jobs to get finished and jobs still coming in. We had a great month of September even though we dealt with a fair amount of rain we were able to stay on schedule and complete a large number of jobs.  The project we will share this month was completed in Burnsville and consisted of removing some old over grown shrubs, rock and edging followed up with the installation of soil, edging, outcroppings, plant material, preen and mulch.

FIRST STEPS:
In July I received a landscape request from a couple in Burnsville so I called them to discuss what they were looking to have done and we scheduled an appointment to meet with them at their home.  The day of the appointment I met the clients and they took me to the back yard where they have fence surrounding a pool with landscape beds bordering the fence.  They explained to me that they did the landscaping themselves and added plant material throughout the years and it was just getting overgrown and were looking for a fresh look. We discussed what they were envisioning so I was I was able to come up with a plan. I went around and got all my measurement and notes I needed so I could go back and draw up a plan and write up a proposal. Once they received the proposal they called me to meet at Pahl’s to go over the plan and get them on the schedule.

REMOVAL/DISPOSAL:
The day we started the job I went through with the crew to show them what was going to be done and they started the removal process of all the existing plants, rock, poly and edging.  The removal process is not always easy or a fun job. We could not use the skidloader in the back yard so the crew had to tear it all out with shovels and pick axes and wheel barrow everything to the front yard to load it on the dump truck and haul the disposal out. Once the crew got everything torn out and down to bare soil they could start the install process.

INSTALLATION:
Once everything was removed and the new bed lines were marked, we could bring in soil to fill in holes from the existing plants and for the new plants to be installed.  We then followed up with installing poly edging to define the bed lines.  After we installed the soil and edging I went through and placed the plant material and fieldstone boulder outcroppings for the crew to install.  Everything was going smooth and just had to preen and spread Western Red Cedar mulch to finish the landscape project.

CONCLUSION:
We were able to finish the project all in one day and the clients were excited to have it done and thought everything looked amazing.  It’s nice to have such a great crew that gets the job done in a timely manner and takes pride in what they do so we can stay on schedule to complete the job that’s in place.

The freeze and snow will be here before we know it and the season will soon come to the end. It’s not too late to get your landscape projects done yet this season so contact Pahl’s for all your landscape needs.
