August has arrived and that means that the market is stocked with fresh produce. The corn drive thru is open for you to get that quick dozen or two on the way home. We are now selling Pahl’s delicious sweet corn! The other Pahl’s homegrown produce that is in and not to take second fiddle to our corn is tomatoes, green beans, cabbage, and cucumbers. Green beans from the field are snapping good. Fresh from the fields’ cabbage and cucumbers can’t be beat. The tomatoes are meaty and heavenly to eat. If you like to can tomatoes, now is the time to call and reserve how many you would like. We fill orders as they are received and the canners are available. If you have never frozen our fresh Pahl’s corn you are missing out on an easy project. Buy a box of corn and we will supply you with Grandma Pahl’s simple baked recipe. You will then be able to enjoy delicious corn all winter long. But wait! There is more! Just around the corner will be our awesome green peppers. That will be something to look forward to on your future visit.
Saturday, August 17th will be our 18th Annual Corn Fest. From 11 AM – 2 PM we cook fresh Pahl’s grown sweet corn for our loyal customers. This is a free event if you have never attended. Stop in and eat as many delicious cobs of corn that you want. We will have Dave Hudson playing entertaining music for your enjoyment. There will be a table set up for you to bring in a canned or boxed food item for our local food shelf. Also, there will be a donation jar for the Piper Breast Center. Pahl’s Market donates 30% of the sale of all pink pottery to breast cancer research. We encourage you to participate in these worthy causes.
Not to forget, we have some wonderful gift items still available at a great price. Soon we will be making space for our fall decorating items, and dare I say, Halloween. The summer has passed us so quickly. But the activities continue here at Pahl’s Market. A quick look ahead into September and October the festivities will include Harvest Days and our Fall Festival.
