The winter naps have come and gone and the time to fire up the greenhouses is here. We plan to be in full swing starting February 12th with the planting crew returning and the heaters going. The first thing we will seed is tomatoes for our greenhouse production, both indeterminate varieties and determinate varieties along with our cherry varieties. In early March we will start seeding for transplants that will go out in the fields, such as green and red cabbage, kale, Napa cabbage and peppers.
We have met with numerous customers over the past months for planning purposes and we are looking forward to an exciting 2018 crop season. Things are well laid out on where crops will be planted and how many acres of each crop will be grown. If Mother Nature cooperates this should turn out to be an exciting year. We are eternal optimists that push ourselves to extreme limits during the height of the season and the more that is planned out the more smoothly things tend to run. However, like any good coach or manager, we have to adapt to the conditions of the game that is being played in front of us. Sometimes the most fun that we have is calling an audible at the line and it works! Great play by Nick Foles by the way and Dilly Dilly to a great farm year.
