How to best care for a perennial?

by | Mar 12, 2010 | Resources, Market News, Ask Pahl's Market, Caring for your Plants

Hi Pahl’s Market

I bought 3 Table Mountain Ice Plants from Pahl’s back around May 12th. I kept them outside on my screened/covered porch for the first 2 weeks and planted Memorial weekend. The plants were still green and looking quite healthy when I planted them. I have been watering them regularly and fertilized as instructed upon my purchase. The plants continue to get smaller, brown, and are dying. What can I do to save them? These are the only plants I am encountering problems with. Please help!

Michelle

Dear Michelle,

It sounds like you have been taking really good care of them. Are they in a sunny, well-drained place? Some perennials really complain if their feet are too wet. Check to see how much sun they are getting in a day, and observe carefully to see how long it takes for the soil to dry out. Do you still have your receipt? If you do, and there has been no improvement by the time you receive this message, we would ask you to bring them in along with your receipt, and we will help you find something else.
