What do we love about August here at Pahl’s Market? Our homegrown, mouth-watering sweet corn has matured and fills our corn table! Let me sweeten that deal. You can drive thru and our friendly staff will deliver your corn right to your car! Sorry, no milk shakes or fries though. But I do have to tell you, last year one of our loyal customers brought us a sample of ice cream she makes with fresh sweet corn added. It was delicious! If you would like our tasty corn during the long winter months, freezing it is SO simple. Just follow this recipe:
Grandma Pahl’s Sweet Corn
9 cups fresh corn, removed from the cob
2 cups cold water
1 tbsp. salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 stick of butter (cut up and spread evenly over corn)
Directions
Place corn in a 9” x 13” pan. Add 2 cups of cold water, spread evenly cut butter over corn, sprinkle salt and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Bag corn, but let it cool before sealing bags (Fill 1.5 to 2 cups of corn with juices per bag). Freeze.

Our Minnesota summer just seems to have sped past us once again. But we will continue our festivities into the fall and winter months. Looking ahead, in September we will have Harvest Days, October brings our Fall Festival, and November ushers in Spruce tips and Christmas trees. Yikes!
