What a month April was! It was the latest ever for getting in the field in my entire life, dad’s life and grandpa’s life. We planted our first sweet corn on Sunday the 29th and started planting cabbage on Monday, April 30th with our transplants out of the greenhouse. Hopefully this week the weather warms up and the soil continues to dry out a bit more. The heavier ground is still a bit wet and as I have said before “DO NOT START WORKING THE GROUND BEFORE IT IS DRY ENOUGH”. Ground compaction is the worst thing a farmer can do in the spring.
With the last of the snow banks finally gone and as I walked around the Market the other night turning on heaters I was truly amazed how the retail facility looked. I am so proud of the staff that we have around here to get ready for the robust spring it just knocks my socks off! They have worked tirelessly these past three weeks getting displays up, revamping the shopping grounds and adding different nuances that will make your shopping experience the most delightful. Thanks to everyone that works here and keep up the good work. I have never seen this place look so nice and polished!
