The Green Marvel moth begins as an egg usually laid on the underside of host plant leaves can be either singly or in clusters in numbers ranging from a few to almost 20,000. Eggs may also be burrowed in the plants or even just laid on the ground near the host plant. The host plants are located by the adult moths by their ability to identify chemical emissions produced by plants (pheromones). The eggs soon hatch (in a week or less) into tiny caterpillars and look like miniatures of the final stage of development of caterpillar. Once these stages of the moth’s development are complete the caterpillar pupates. The moth flies April – August. The larval stage consumes viburnum plants. Found more persistent in the Northeastern States.
