News from the Farmer

I woke up this morning and wondered to myself, how are we going to get all of these pumpkins out of the field?  The pumpkin crop this year has been great and it seems that even though we pick 140 plus bins a day, we hardly put a dent in the field.  It is definitely safe to say that we will not run short of pumpkins before Halloween!  Our days consist of about two crops, cabbage and pumpkins.  We cut cabbage in the mornings so that the pumpkins have time to dry off from the morning dew, which is necessary to ensure a smooth harvest that day.  We will pick pumpkins until the sun is almost below the horizon and then repeat the process the next day.  We are still staying busy, which is a good thing, and we all know there is always something to do around the farm!

Enjoy this week’s share box!
