News from the Farmer

As our first CSA season draws to a close it is time to look back and reflect upon the successes and challenges we have faced this year.  Enrollment exceeded our expectations and we ended up selling out of the 2014 CSA memberships with over 500 shareholders.  We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our shareholders through our harvest events and interaction during pick-ups.

The 2014 CSA program has been marked by both trials and triumphs.  A wet Spring and a rush to get crops planted started us off on an anxious foot.  But the warm and humid days of Summer helped push the crops along, which was a blessing considering the late start.  We faced a few challenges with crops maturing at the same time and with weed control but we had some great success with many new crops we have never planted before.  High yields and superb quality allowed us to offer plentiful share boxes throughout the season.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our 2014 CSA shareholders!  What a great first season we’ve had.  We hope that it has been everything you expected and more.  I am really looking forward to the 2015 CSA season and hope to see many of the same smiling faces again next year!

Have a great share week!
