How to Assemble a Spruce Tip Pot

by | Oct 29, 2014 | CSA Member Updates, Recipes

1.  Any large pot (12″ or larger in diameter) can be used to create your spruce tip pot. Remove and discard any spent plants and potting soil from your pot. Fill your pot with sand. This is especially important if you are using glazed pots. Potting soil will not hold your tips in place.
2.  Trim the small sprigs from the bottom of each tip.  Place the tallest tip in the center of your pot and surround it with the four shorter ones.
3.  Now you can fill in with the boughs, the spruce tip trimmings and other greens.  Add Hydrangea and stems from colorful shrubs, such as red dogwood, to accent your design.  At Pahl’s we carry a colorful variety of boughs, stems, and dried florals to help you. Let your creativity flow!
4.  Here at Pahl’s we also offer a wide selection of festive picks, berries, pine cones and bows to add sparkle and shine to your pot. You may have some items on hand from your past creations, so be sure to look for them.
5.  Use floral wire to firmly secure your decorations to the greens.
6.  Place your decorated pot by your front door to greet all the guests you will entertain during this beautiful season.
