We still have plenty of hanging baskets, patio tubs, tropicals, and 4.5” transplant pots available! If you haven’t done so already come on in and get your flowerbeds or perennial gardens planted.

It is Finally Planting Time

It is Finally Planting Time

May is my favorite time of year. By this time I have my gardens pretty well cleaned up and I can begin to think about all the beautiful annuals I will add this year. Containers are a favorite of mine and each year I try to make them different. Let me share some of my favorite plants and maybe I can inspire you to begin a new planting adventure.

A Time to Begin Again

A Time to Begin Again

What does a gardener do during the winter in Minnesota? Well, we have a few choices. We can curl up with a good gardening magazine by a cozy fire. We can also start to look over all the seed catalogs coming in the mail this month. January is a good time to do some planning for the next gardening season. I take out my notebook and look at scribbles I made about the past years successes and failures. For sure I will use more of some annuals and maybe not so many of some others. We all must remember that each growing season is different, so maybe some things that didn’t look as we had hoped may be worth a second try.

Pinch Me, It’s June!

Pinch Me, It’s June!

Now that June is here and it is warm and sunny you can begin the grooming and pinching of certain annuals as they take off with quick growth. One of the most wonderful plants that gets even more beautiful is the Supertunia. Supertunias are one of our favorite plants for beautiful color and a wonderful growth habit. Supertunias have the capability to create branches on their stems and they really become full when you pinch them back a bit. Just cut off the longest stems a few inches to just beyond where leaves come off of a stem.
