Found on the Genius Kitchen website, this very easy recipe is a good introduction to turnips for those who are a little hesitant about trying them. Rutabagas could also be substituted for the turnips.

Cook time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon Brown sugar
2 teaspoons Butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed Red pepper flakes
1/8 teaspoon ground Ginger
1 dash ground Allspice
3 Turnips, peeled and each cut into 6 wedges (6 ounces each)
Cooking spray
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Spray jelly roll pan with cooking spray.
3. In large mixing bowl combine brown sugar, butter, salt, crushed red pepper flakes, ginger, and allspice. Add turnips and toss to coat evenly.
4. Spread turnip mixture in jelly roll pan and bake for 35 minutes or until tender, stirring every 10 minutes.
(Optional: Add a carrot or two for a little added sweetness and color.)
