News from the Farmer

by | Jun 28, 2016 | CSA Member Updates, News from the Farmer

Our second week of the 2016 CSA program is looking to be quite bountiful.  Kohlrabi makes its triumphant return this year alongside rhubarb, pak choy (bok choy) and peas, to name a few.  The fields are looking very good overall, and most of the crops are right on schedule.  A dry spell has forced us to begin irrigating in every field that has a center pivot or lateral on it.  It is crucial that during these dry, hot and especially windy days, you keep plants well watered, and in turn with the warmth, they will continue to grow exponentially.  As we look forward to yet another great farm share season, with bountiful harvests and delicious homegrown vegetables, here is to a great share week!

Love the Farmall H tractor in the background. My dad had a Super C on his farm when I was growing up.
