This weekend brought our worst fears to light as high winds combined with heavy rains leveled our sweet corn fields. While the corn will be just fine, it changes everything about how we will be harvesting it for a while, or potentially for the rest of the season. It’s two words that we never want to say when asked how we are picking our sweet corn… BY HAND. Time consuming, hot and itchy working conditions make it that much more difficult. We will try to pick as much as we can by machine but the remainder will be picked by hand. We will pick up our heads, move forward and make the best of the situation despite the setback. On a lighter note, these beautiful sunny and 70 degree days can continue indefinitely, it makes spirits a lot brighter on the farm. Have a great share week everyone!
