News From the Farmer

by | Jul 7, 2015 | CSA Member Updates, News from the Farmer

I have always said that rain slows us down in the field, but the rain we received Sunday into Monday stopped us dead in our tracks. We were able to get into the fields a little later on in the day when the rain let up and you could have brought a canoe with to get around in some parts of the field! I have never seen standing water out here like I did yesterday. Weather aside, the fields are bursting at the seams with beautiful produce and we are back at it, harvesting and packing and shipping. The cauliflower looks great and tastes even better, gold beets and arugala are making their first appearance. The planting tractors have all quieted down for the year and it is time to dive head first into harvest season. Time goes very fast and before we know it pumpkins and squash will be harvested with summer turning to fall. For now, the sun is back, the crops look great and week three of our CSA program is upon us. Have a wonderful share week, fresh vegetables are on their way from our farm to your fork!
