Chris from Gentleman Forager offered this recipe for us to share with our members. Fire up the grill, add your favorite meat, and dinner is ready in no time!
Ingredients:
8 ounces Maitake mushrooms
Olive oil
1 Tablespoon fresh Thyme, picked
1 Tablespoon fresh Sage, picked
1 Tablespoon fresh Parsley leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon minced Garlic
1/4 teaspoon Salt
Fresh ground black Pepper
Your favorite BBQ sauce (chef’s recommendation: a Carolina style sauce compliments the deep, meaty flavor of the Maitake)
Directions:
1. Break mushrooms in half, or quarters depending on size – you will want a good-sized piece for the grill.
2. In a mixing bowl combine fresh herbs, garlic, and olive oil. Add Mushrooms, salt and pepper – toss.
3. Place mushrooms, flat side down, on the grill over medium-high heat.
4. Grill until solid marks are formed, turn over and brush heavily with the sauce of your choice.
5. Continue cooking until softened, flip again and brush again. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then remove from the grill.
Makes a great addition to burgers or as a meat alternative for sandwiches!
