Harvest Highlights: Week 15 CSA News & Updates

Welcome to Week 15 of the CSA season!

From the Farmer: A Note of Gratitude

As we send out this final share of the season, the fields are showing the clear signs of fall—leaves crisping, vines pulling back, and cool air settling in each morning.  Each CSA box represents months of planning, planting, tending, and harvesting—and behind every ear of sweet corn, every tomato, and every pepper is a team of hardworking hands and hearts. Farming includes a lot of early mornings, long days in the sun, and evenings spent preparing for the next task. It’s not always easy, but it is deeply rewarding when we see the fruits of that labor end up on your tables.

This program isn’t just about vegetables; it’s about community. The CSA thrives because of the commitment of members like you—families, couples, and individuals who choose to support local agriculture and eat with the seasons. You’ve shared in the highs of bumper crops and the lows when weather tested us, and through it all, your support has never wavered. That loyalty allows us to keep going, to adapt, and to keep putting quality food in the boxes week after week.

We also want to shine a light on the teamwork it takes to bring each share together. From the crew in the fields harvesting by hand, to those loading and packing boxes, and the added help delivering and at our pick-up sites, it truly takes a village. Each role is vital, and together it all comes together in the CSA share you open each week. When you unpack your box, you’re not just receiving produce—you’re connecting with the efforts of dozens of people working together toward a common goal.

As we enter the final stretch of the season, our hearts are full of gratitude. Thank you for choosing to be part of this journey with us. Thank you for trusting us to grow your food, for sharing your feedback, and for celebrating the flavors of each season right alongside us. We’re reminded every day that farming is about more than just growing crops—it’s about growing connections, nourishment, and traditions that tie us together.

What’s in the box?

This week’s box is packed with hearty fall favorites and crisp, colorful produce. Buttercup squash brings rich, sweet flesh that’s excellent roasted or mashed, while spaghetti squash offers its fun, noodle-like strands that work beautifully as a pasta substitute. Delicata squash or sweet dumpling squash round out the squash trio, with thin, edible skin and a naturally sweet flavor that roasts quickly and easily.

Fresh apples add a juicy, refreshing balance to the share. Colored bell peppers and mini sweet peppers bring both crunch and vibrant color, perfect for snacking, stuffing, or sautéing. Carrots are included for a crisp, earthy bite, excellent eaten raw, roasted, or added to soups. Onions finish the mix as a reliable kitchen staple, adding flavor and depth to almost any dish.

Together, this week’s harvest blends the comfort of fall squash with fresh, colorful produce that brightens up your meals.
